Creating Change: My Move to Accuvant as Chief Strategy and Security Officer
I’m extremely excited to announce that I’ve embarked on the next phase of my professional journey. I’ve joined Accuvant in the newly created position of Chief Security and Strategy Officer, working alongside some of the most talented security professionals in the world to innovate and develop strategic solutions that solve the specific security problems organizations of all sizes face today.
This is a personal evolution for me … one that gives me the rare opportunity to fulfill a long-standing passion – to help CSOs and CISOs succeed as savvy business executives.
In my 3 ½ years at Websense, I learned a lot and worked with so many really incredible people. I had the privilege of playing a major role in influencing corporate strategy, driving IT and security strategy, and of serving as the voice of the customer to lead technology innovation that maximized the value to customers. I’m very thankful for my experiences there, and beyond proud of the transformation we realized, becoming a strategic player and provider of critical technology to CSOs. During my time at Websense, I met with more than 1,200 CSOs. One thing became very clear– most security organizations are struggling and need help.
Joining Accuvant gives me the chance to help organizations resolve their struggles … to go beyond technology … to counsel CXO executives on how to change security strategies through innovation, ensuring they align with business goals and achieve success … to work with business executives to deliver solutions that create real value for their organizations.
In early 2014, I’ll be aggressively building out Accuvant’s Office of the CSO, a street team of extremely seasoned CISOs that will support my mission of bringing value to the security executive community. We will launch a number of groundbreaking new services to better equip CISOs to speak the business language and align to overall corporate strategies. We will help CISOs make strategic plans that are very agile and nimble so they can react to changing threats and evolving business needs. We will work side by side with CISOs to enhance data protection and risk management. And, we will support CISOs as they implement internal sales and marketing campaigns that enable them to run successful micro businesses within their overarching macro businesses.
I’m looking forward to sharing, with CSOs and CISOs around the world, the lessons I’ve learned over the last 20+ years in the information security trenches as a former CISO and head of infrastructure for Fortune 100 and 500 companies, and from my strategy work at Websense. And, I’m really excited to be in a position where I can continue to affect positive change while advancing the security industry as a whole.
I’ll be sharing more information about my work at Accuvant in the coming months. In the meantime, I’d love to help in anyway with your programs, drop me a line on LinkedIn at http://www.linkedin.com/in/jasonclarkfl.
