Denver – July 25, 2013 – Accuvant, the Authoritative Source for information security, today announced that several members of its renowned Accuvant LABS team are presenting at DEF CON 21. The conference will take place August 1-4 at Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
Who/Topic: Amir Etemadieh, research scientist, will co-present this session during which he will publicly release two exploits that allow users to modify their Google TV devices and bypassing "secure boot," as well as show off a custom recovery on the device. The presentation will include unreleased exploits, recently released exploits and the researchers’ experience adding a potentially malicious Android application to the Google Play store. It will end with a demo.

Who/What: Eric Milam, principal consultant, will explore the creation of smbexec, the components behind it and how to leverage its functionality to get the goods from a system without having to use a payload.

Who/What: Josh Thomas, applied research scientist, will discuss the current state of affairs in state-sponsored malware and implants; talk about who buys 0-day exploits and how they are used; and cover use cases, laws, costs, overall designs and advanced malware techniques not normally seen “in the wild.”

Who/What: Eric Milam will focus on the use of easy-creds to set up several different wireless attacks including fake-ap, karmetasploit and FreeRadius attacks.
When/Where: Saturday, August 3 at 1:00 p.m./Wireless Village
Who/What: Todd Manning and Zach Lanier, senior research consultants, will explore the hardware used in the GoPro Hero 3 camera to handle imaging, networking and other input/output. They will explain the multiple layers of software running on the device, show attack surfaces exposed to attackers, demonstrate interesting ways to interface existing software with the audio visual capabilities and present a library to remotely control the device.
