The Clinical Application & Resource Extension (CARE) Solution bridges the gap between leading IAM platforms and clinical applications.
Overland Park, Kans. — FishNet Security announced today the release of a new enterprise software solution that enables healthcare providers to provision users to clinical applications through integration with leading identity management platforms.
Healthcare providers face significant challenges in meeting the HIPAA and HITECH security and privacy requirements according to 2012 pilot audit results reported by the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Civil Rights. The CARE solution, designed and developed by FishNet Security, closes many of the gaps identified in the report, including monitoring user activity, ensuring identity authentication and integrity, granting and modifying user access rights and verifying the identity of those requesting Patient Health Information.
“FishNet Security’s CARE software provides scalable, cost-effective integration with traditional identity management platforms to solve for many of the traditional business and information security challenges associated with Identity and Access Management,” said Andrew Ames, vice president of business development at FishNet Security. “Organizations can gain efficiencies as a result of the need to manage fewer user IDs and passwords for clinical applications, automating the provisioning of users’ accounts and access entitlements to key healthcare applications, and enabling clinicians to reset their own passwords instead of waiting for Help Desk assistance.”
Information security professionals at healthcare organizations are routinely tasked with reducing administrative costs, enabling increased clinician efficiency, streamlining access to critical patient health information, all while meeting increasingly stringent compliance requirements. Combine these challenges with the growing threat landscape and the fact that healthcare organizations tend to have fewer information security resources than other industries, and the obstacles can seem insurmountable.
The Ponemon Institute reports that 94 percent of healthcare organizations surveyed suffered at least one data breach during the past two years. Even more concerning, 45 percent of organizations experienced more than five data breaches each during this same period. Based on the experience of the 80 healthcare organizations participating in this research, Ponemon estimates that data breaches could be costing the U.S. healthcare industry an average of $7 billion annually.
“Solutions like CARE, in tandem with those from our integration partners, can not only address a number of business objectives, but they can substantially reduce the risk profile for organizations under fire from a variety of internal and external threats. It is our mission to not only help healthcare providers achieve this dual benefit, but also help ensure that patient health information is secure and protected,” said Ames.
FishNet Security will be launching the new solution at the Gartner Identity and Access Management Summit, kicking off today in Los Angeles, CA. Healthcare organizations interested in learning more about how identity and access management technology, paired with effective strategy and best practices, can solve for many of the challenges outlined here are encouraged to stop by booth 405 for a live demonstration or to speak with representatives. Those not attending can visit www.fishnetsecurity.com/CARE for more information or to request pricing or view a recorded demo.
