DALLAS - November 30, 2009 - Accuvant, a leading provider of information security, risk and compliance management consulting services, announced today that Watermark Community Church, a 5,000-member non-denominational congregation in Dallas, Texas, has utilized Accuvant's consultants to build a secure and powerful wireless network to support long-term growth and protect the church's IT assets.
"Watermark had grown steadily in both campus size and number of members the past few years, but our IT infrastructure had not kept pace," said Scott Miller, director of IT for Watermark. "As a result, the bandwidth and performance of our existing wireless solution suffered. Additionally, because we wanted to operate an open campus, we knew we needed a more robust information security strategy. Accuvant was instrumental in helping us achieve our goals both on time and within budget and as a result, the church enjoys a best-of-breed wireless solution that is secure, scalable and accessible campus-wide."
"We specialize in helping our clients meet their business objectives, improve their information security postures and reduce overall IT costs," said Mark Bennett, area vice president for Accuvant in the east. "We are thrilled to be considered a trusted advisor to Watermark Community Church for their secure wireless solution, which enhanced the church's ability to meet its growing congregation's needs. We look forward to working with them on future projects, and to continuing to serve the needs of all our customers in Texas and throughout the U.S."
Watermark Community Church's new wireless network enabled Miller to implement several innovative technology solutions for the benefit of the congregation, including a new registration kiosk that manages child care and Sunday school requests, an interactive website that is populated with video, audio and flash animation, and VPN access for the church's 100 employees so they can work from home or on the road. Free wireless internet is also made available to members and their guests.
Most importantly, Watermark's IT network is hassle free. "Accuvant did a great job architecting a wireless environment that will scale to meet future needs while not requiring additional internal resources," added Miller. "A staff of two and a half is able to do the work of five or six; that saves us a lot of money and resources that are better suited for other ministries."
