Accuvant Celebrates Six Continuous Years as a Qualified Security Assessment Company in Good Standing With the PCI Security Standards Council

Denver – Sept. 15, 2011 – Accuvant, the only research-driven information security partner delivering alignment, clarity and confidence to enterprise and government clients, today announced that it has successfully completed its annual Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security Standards Council Quality Assurance Program review and has renewed its certification to conduct PCI assessments in the United States and Canada. Accuvant has consistently maintained its good standing with the PCI Security Standard Council since 2006 when the Council was formed and first named Accuvant as a Qualified Security Assessment (QSA) company.

Initially authorized in 2005 as a certified vendor for the MasterCard Site Data Protection Program (SDP) and Visa Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP), Accuvant has continuously expanded its PCI services to meet the evolving and growing needs of the market. As a QSA company, Accuvant began assessing compliance to the PCI Data Security Standard (DSS) in the United States. The company subsequently earned the Approved Scanning Vendor (ASV) designation and started performing vulnerability scans of Internet facing environments for merchants and service providers, adhering to certain DSS requirements. A few years later, as a certified Payment Application-Qualified Security Assessor (PA-QSA), Accuvant began conducting payment application reviews in compliance with the PCI Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS). Earlier this year, Accuvant met the PCI Council requirements to perform PCI data security assessments in Canada and introduced its full suite of PCI services to Canadian enterprises.

“While many PCI providers simply perform audits against PCI requirements, Accuvant is focused on helping clients identify and resolve PCI compliance issues,” said Brian Serra, Accuvant PCI practice manager. “We are proud to have completed our annual review of PCI Council in good standing, and we look forward to continuing to deliver proven services built on effective methodologies and sampling approaches.”

Accuvant’s team of risk and compliance management professionals is comprised of industry thought leaders. They frequently speak on security, risk and compliance trends at industry conferences such as Black Hat, RSA’s annual conference, Gartner panels, and dozens more; and participated on a number of PCI Council special interest groups discussing tokenization, encryption, virtualization, and DSS scope reduction. The staff also actively contributes to many industry publications and has authored a number of books.
